Decoration Ideas For A Baby Shower

I’m gonna be honest with you new moms and moms-to-be: Baby showers are just too expensive! Although baby showers are a great way to celebrate the upcoming baby, they are reaching extreme amounts.

First off, décor is very important in creating a wow visual experience, setting the mood and contributing to the overall experience of the baby shower – for that reason; you have to arrange for décor and here are some decoration ideas for a baby shower.

You can decorate according to a theme or just create a number of non-themed table settings to transform your space. On the whole, you don’t have to spend a fortune on decorations for a baby shower.

Don’t Break The Bank On Chic

So can you throw an expensive looking, fun, and cute baby shower without having to break the bank?

Short answer: Yes, by saving on décor

Long answer: Continue reading this article; because we’ll discuss the difference between expensive and inexpensive decorations – I will show you how to fake an expensive décor, and most important, where you can find decorations for baby shower.
Décor can be expensive or cheap (depending on what you’re looking for) – however; the main idea here is making your décor appear expensive (cheap yet chic).

Since decorations is one of those areas in which you can easily overspend and still want to buy more, expensive decoration involves going to extravagant measures even when it’s out of your means.

Inexpensive decorations, on the other hand, involve making your location look beautiful without overspending or blowing your entire budget.

Before you invest in décor, remember that you can make homemade theme decorations that are just as cute as stuff you buy at the store – by that; you save money on décor so you’ll have more money for cakes, flowers, games, food and drink.

How to fake an expensive décor

  • Before all else; choose a unifying theme
  • Your local dollar store idea
  • Shop Online
  • Print out your Printable
  • Repurpose your items

Because that’s where you will base the entire event, your theme can either make or break your baby shower.

Change up the baby shower theme or colors depending on whether you’re expecting a boy or girl and then add a number of touches to personalize the event.

See examples below

  • Ribbon Topiary
  • A classic Bow Tie (for a baby boy)
  • Paper puffs
  • Elephant theme on the dessert table

You can use ribbon topiary in place of flowers topiary – ribbons are cheap and you don’t have to go to the florist. Make two or three topiaries for the table to add visual interest.

Congrats! It’s a boy. Ok seriously classic bowties never goes out of fashion.

Get your scissors and tissue paper – lay 8 pieces of tissue paper on top of each other and fold like a fan (start from the bottom).

Then, use the scissors to cut either end of the strip into a ‘V’ shape and separate all of the different fan layers until they resemble a ball.

A unique and awesome theme for your baby boy or girl.

Don’t Forget To Shop Around

There’s probably a dollar store within walking distance of your home and after choosing your baby shower theme, you should definitely visit. They often sell décor product like balloons in high quantity – cheaper and with far superior color options.

Literally they provide the best budget décor; you’ll be saving hundreds of dollars over buying the same product in a store.

Check online to see if you can get an expensive piece for very little money or whether you can find a cheaper replica of a more expensive piece that you have your eye on.

I love the internet simply because it allows us print out our own designs and frame it ourselves.

You only have to pay a small amount – and then you print designs for décor, food and drink labels, game labels and other aspects of your baby shower.

Further; you may send the work to a print shop to get the best image.

You can repurpose home items that can be used for different purposes than intended. For example, you can use soup cans (after removing the label)

These are great tips for baby showers decoration.

I have 3 kids and I know how we can get carried away while planning a baby shower. Of course, we want to set a perfect and beautiful decoration to celebrate the baby and sometimes – if we’re not careful – we end up buying everything we see and like.

This can get not only expensive but also visually confusing.

Therefore, I totally agree with you, it’s possible to have a chic looking baby shower without breaking the bank. Choosing a unifying theme and checking those local dollar stores are great ways of having a perfect celebration.

    Great tips! 🙂

      Hello Eliane

      Thank you for your comment.

Yes it is very easy to do so. When my friend was organising mine, I thought she was going over the top but it was great. Shopping around any where and every where is the key to having a chic looking baby shower without breaking the bank. Dollar stores and some online stores like the ones I shared, I found everything I needed.

    Hi Charlotte,

What a great post! I love all your tips on how to save money for a baby shower party.
My sister is having her first baby in 6 months, so this helps me a lot because I did not know how to start. But now I can tell I have some ideas in mind. I found really cool the idea of Ribbon Topiary, definitely cheaper than flowers!
On the other hand, I did not know the website Beau Coup, so I took a look, and it’s awesome! There so many cool things to have a beautiful baby shower party without spending a lot of money.

    Thanks for the tips!

      Thanks Darmendra

Congrats for your sister, those 6 months will come really quick. I thought Ribbon Topiary was a good idea, because it saved so much money and really simple to do. Beau Coup helped out a lot. I bought some decorations from there to help with my theme idea. And ended up almost buying everything I needed lol.

I hope you find what you need and have fun creating a beautiful baby shower for your sister.

Decorating a baby shower looks a novel idea to keep the youngster comfortable in their surrounding while they are being cleaned. The original concept of blue for boy and pink for girl are a bit old fashioned and using more modern art work seems great. The point of not overspending seems sensible because given a year or so they will out grow the theme and need a new idea.

Over spending on baby shower decorations is something most hosts do quite easily.

Exactly sometimes it can be easier to just be neutral.
